World History

Ancient/Classic/Modern World History

The course is offered as 3 separate semesters; covering Ancient, Classic and Modern History. Students will follow a school curriculum to guide the class in a chronological order and begin developing the students’ perspective and understanding of time and past events. The course will focus on big picture ideas that require deeper thinking and understanding of the topics. We will use a variety of details (art, warfare, technology, philosophy, daily life) to address a larger function of those ancient civilizations and how they still impact us today. Students will begin to draw parallels between different cultures and understand how ideas, technology and information began to spread. The class will include DBQs, primary sources, educational videos and other unique assignments to help students understand historical context and allow them to make key connections.
